On March 1. 2015, 60 Minutes aired its investigative report "Lumber Liquidators" which found that Chinese-made laminate flooring sold in North America contains high levels of formaldehyde. The levels of formaldehyde may be in excess of health and safety standards.
Formaldehyde is commonly found in building materials, composite wood products and products such as glues and paints and coatings. Primary exposure to formaldehyde is through off-gassed formaldehyde in the air. Formaldehyde can be an irritant to the skin, throat, nose and eyes and high levels of exposure may cause cancer.
